Even back in kindergarten, I remember experiencing a level of social anxiety. Every lunch time, we would stand in a circle around our teacher, and one by one, each student would be dismissed for lunch after they called out the French word for the flashcard she held up. I remember knowing the French for each flashcard but being too shy to say it out loud!
